Peer Mediation
For over ten years, member of the ICBA have partnered with the Lansing School District in offering Peer Mediation training and support for elementary and middle school students. With the assistance of lawyers and law students, our children are taught problem-solving skills to successfully resolve disputes without violence. The program was designed and implemented by former ICBA president, Nancy Wonch, and has been successfully replicated in school districts throughout the state.

The ICBA conducts a Law Day essay contest for middle school students in Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton counties with the 2008 contest featuring a hypothetical situation allowing students to explore Freedom of Speech issues related to internet usage, particularly social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. Students submitting the top essays at each grade level received United States Savings Bonds and were honored at an Awards Ceremony on May 2, 2008 at Veterans Memorial Courthouse.
