Biographical Info

Chris Martin has worked as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Ingham County since 2015. He currently serves as the office’s lead prosecutor for Drug Addiction Response. Chris has worked closely with Prosecutor Siemon and other County officials to shift the focus of the majority of local drug prosecutions away from incarceration and toward treatment, services, and improved health outcomes. Chris works with specialized police units to prosecute large-scale narcotics trafficking cases, unlawful prescribing practices by medical providers, and gun crimes. Chris also serves as the office’s lead prosecutor for crimes involving elder abuse and exploitation, and vulnerable adult victims.
Prior to joining the Prosecutor’s Office, Chris worked as an associate attorney at the Abood Law Firm. Chris spent the first five years of his legal career in the Charlottesville, Virginia-area at a general practice law firm. He worked as a teacher in New York City Public Schools and in Virginia before law school. Chris is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Virginia School of Law. In his free time, Chris is an elected Trustee on the East Lansing School Board and serves on the Vestry of All Saints Episcopal Church in East Lansing. Chris lives with his spouse and their two children in East Lansing.
During his 3L year at U.Va., Chris was elected president of the Student Bar Association. That role involved significant event planning, fundraising, public service, and advocacy on behalf of fellow law students—all of which are great preparation for the ICBA Board of Directors.
