Elinor Jordan

Biographical Info

Elly Jordan is the Public Benefits Attorney for Michigan Poverty Law Program. Over the past decade, Elly has been an attorney with Michigan Immigrant Rights Center and the MSU Immigration Law Clinic, where she focused her advocacy on immigrant youth who were survivors of trafficking and abuse. She also helped found the Survivor Law Clinic at the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence, where she engaged in novel legal representation to enforce crime victim rights for survivors. Before becoming a lawyer, Elly worked with a nonprofit human rights organization in El Salvador and Washington, DC in support of fair trade policies and programs building youth and women's empowerment. In her current professional role, Elly is driven by a desire to protect and enhance the social safety net so that more people can thrive.
